ASSET International, part of the Hill & Smith Infrastructure Products Group, designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of steel structures for tunnelling and bridge underpass solutions worldwide. ASSET International has developed a set of bridge systems designed for specific applications. Each bridge type has unique engineering and fabrication characteristics, allowing the structure to offer a cost effective solution to varying span and rise dimensions.

STREN-COR - BRIDGE TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION

The Stren-Cor high, medium, low and standard arch profiles are typically used during bridge construction.

Specifically designed for bridge applications, when properly installed, Stren-Cor can last up to 120 years before replacement is required. Stren-Cor steel bridge structures are relatively maintenance free, unlike conventional bridges, which frequently require retrofits.

VARIETY OF CONFIGURATIONS - CULVERTS AND ARCHES

Available in a variety of configurations Stren-Cor can exceed spans of 20m. Customer specific shapes are also available, including Stren-Cor box culverts in spans of up to 15m and the Stren-Cor arch with a span of up to 16m.

Stren-Cor offers height and width restriction solutions to bridge tunnelling. The Stren-Cor box culvert is designed to accommodate a large width, whilst the Stren-Cor arch can reach a height of up to 8m - ideal for road underpass applications, which require tall vehicle accommodation.

STRONGER THAN CONVENTIONAL STRUCTURAL PLATES

Stren-Cor has nine times the stiffness of conventional structural plates, providing both lightweight and strong galvanised steel bridge tunnel structures that are both versatile and economical. Its lightweight structure makes Stren-Cor suitable for sites where access for heavy construction traffic is limited.

As with most steel structures, Stren-Cor provides rapid bridge tunnel installation when compared with conventional bridging systems. Installation times are reduced to weeks rather than months, allowing for minimal road closures, and minimal disruption to environmentally sensitive locations.

ASSET International offers structure delivery services, detailed assembly information and construction services to ensure rapid and efficient installation on site.

STREN-COR VALUE BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING

Stren-Cor provides a safe and simple solution to time-sensitive bridge construction and tunnelling. With a range of tunnel shapes and sizes available, Stren-Cor offers a wide choice that other structures would struggle to provide.

Stren-Cor was nominated for the Civil Engineering Award in the British Construction Industry Awards 2005 following its success in becoming the world's first structure to be installed over a live railway line at Stockton-on-Tees.

Further applications include river bridges, where Stren-Cor can provide a watertight tunnel solution under bridges. Once in place the tunnel is incredibly strong and can withstand weights far in excess of those tolerated by concrete, making it the ideal solution for bridge structures.

Stren-Cor offers a very competitive construction time, providing less public disruption - key to projects with short windows of construction.
