Captels is based in Saint Mathieu de Tréviers, France, and designs and manufactures sensors (or spring balances), electronics, and software for both standard and specific professional weighing.

Captels has become the leading company in electronic weighing systems design and manufacture since its founding in 1985, including portable weighing systems for the axle loads of road vehicles.

Weigh in motion, vehicle weight enforcement, axle weighing systems and load cells

Our products include weigh in motion, vehicle weight enforcement and axle weighing systems, as well as load cells. Captels' electronic weighing systems can be used in many industries, including the transport, highways, military, aeronautics, racing car and agricultural markets.

Portable axle weighing of road vehicles

Captels can provide portable axle weighing services for road vehicles in dynamic mode (low speed) or static mode. We cover mobile, semi-permanent and permanent axle weighing systems, which are completely dedicated to trucks' overload controls functioning in low-speed weighing in motion and in static mode.

The French Ministry of Transport, LCPC and LNE have successfully certified Captels' permanent axle weighing systems. This approval by a legal metrology department, based on European recommendations, was obtained in 2005, and the French Ministry of Transport has subsequently been able to pursue and increase its trucks' overload enforcement policy.

Electronic weighing systems development

In order to fit the technical requirements of our customers, Captel's team is permanently upgrading its weighing systems. Private companies are becoming more and more aware of the negative consequences that generate overloaded controls. They want to be in conformity with the regulations and avoid fines.

Fully automatic permanent axle weighing systems

For example, Captels has adapted R125 type fully automatic permanent axle weighing systems that perform low-speed weighing in motion and in static for LCM (a logistics platform for CARREFOUR® supermarkets). It allows LCM to be sure to be it conforms with the law in terms of legal weight.

LCM is implementing its road safety policy for entry and exit trucks control, by identifying trucks and their associated weighing, thus informing the driver of the truck's state and storing the weighing data for statistics and control purposes.
