A subsidiary of Quixote Transportation Technologies, Inc., Nu-Metrics offers a complete line of integrated electronic measuring devices for roadway safety and traffic monitoring, such as distance measuring devices, traffic counters and traffic information networks. Nu-Metrics products are used worldwide for roadway traffic analysis, as well as vehicle management systems in malls and parking facilities. HI-STAR® - PORTABLE TRAFFIC COUNTERThe Hi-Star® portable traffic counter is designed to sit on the roadway surface, and does not require any external sensors, loops or tubes. It utilizes advanced traffic counting technology, Vehicle Magnetic Imaging (VMI), to record the volume, speed and length classification of vehicles, plus road surface temperature, wet/dry surface condition and roadway occupancy. NITESTAR® - VEHICLE INSTALLED DISTANCE MEASURING INSTRUMENTDesigned to make measuring easy, the Nitestar® system can accurately measure distance. The average survey can be completed by simply using the four large keys on the left side of the instrument. The system has non-volatile internal memory to store numerous events and the distance at which they occur. An optional PC interface is available, which allows users to conduct a roadway survey and then print the results. GROUNDHOG® PCS (PERMANENT COUNT STATION)The Groundhog® Permanent Count Station provides accurate and essential data necessary for effective traffic analysis, control and management. Historical data is available in the form of histograms, charts and graphs. GROUNDHOG® WIRELESS PERMANENT TRAFFIC COUNTERThe Groundhog® Permanent Traffic Counter combines advanced VMI traffic monitoring technology with the convenience of a wireless, self-contained system. This in-pavement traffic counter is easy to install because it has no external sensors and requires no buried loops. A low profile model is available for parking garages and bridge decks. The Groundhog® system's VMI technology determines the magnetic influence of a vehicle passing through the Earth's magnetic field for vehicle detection and measurement. It accurately monitors, collects, analyses and stores essential traffic data and roadway condition information. This data can be transmitted to a master data collection station through wireless technology, telephone lines, fiber optics or cellular links. The Groundhog® system features user-friendly software to analyze the traffic data collected by the count station. This software allows users to analyze current and historical traffic data in the form of easy-to-read histograms, charts and graphs. Users can view data, such as vehicle count, vehicle speed, vehicle length classification and surface temperature, at the click of a mouse. Applications include:
RAMS (REMOTE ALARM MONITORING SYSTEM)RAMS is a centralized system that tracks security violations, equipment malfunction or flooding (water levels) for a wide range of remote applications. The system consists of one or more sensors that are attached to a RAMS module for continuous monitoring. When a sensor is activated, the RAMS module sends a CELLEMETRY® signal to a central server to report the alert or alarm condition. This server then dispatches a notice to the responsible authority so that action can be taken. For more information, please contact:
