Sky High Traffic Surveys have been awarded a contract to undertake continuous pedestrian counts on various footpaths throughout Scotland. Sky High is utilising a covert detection system which automatically counts pedestrians continuously over a seven-day period or which can be installed permanently for long-term monitoring.

The system provides data on pedestrian movements for every hour of the day and for every day of the week – times which would be missed by traditional manual observation. The system is ideal for:

  • Assessing footpath usage for planning applications, footpath diversions and closures
  • Visitor monitoring at country parks and other attractions
  • Long-term monitoring of travel plan initiatives and other policies
