Bitmen Products - Asphalt Equipment for Road Surfacing and Reversing Drum, Mortar and Mastic Asphalt Mixers

Bitmen Products was formed in 1987 to provide a 'one stop shop' for asphalt equipment and spare parts. Since then we have designed and produced specialist road construction and maintenance equipment. In addition, the company is a supplier of products from many well-established manufacturers, thus providing a wide range of 'black top' contractors' plant.

The product range has gradually diversified over the years to include concrete, reversing drum and mortar mixers as well as small building contractors' equipment, such as the former Stothert and Pitt powered barrow and mastic asphalt mixers.

We also offer refurbishment, service, hire and a comprehensive spare parts facility.

The key areas of equipment and services that we currently provide include the following.

BITUMEN BOILERS AND ACCESSORIES

Sizes range from 5 gallons up to 50 gallons, in static or mobile options. Accessories include buckets, sally irons, bitumen banding tools, wand dryers, joint barrows and bitumen ladles.

ASPHALT CAULDRONS

Available in sizes from 0.5cwt up to 10.5cwt. Also available are asphalt buckets with bash bar and other accessories.

INFRA RAY HEATERS

The cost-effective way to repair potholes and imperfections in the asphalt surface in one portable unit.

Some of the main advantages include:

• Repairs – cracks, defects, potholes, loose or missing chippings
• Bonds together new and old materials without the need for over-banding
• No oxidisation of existing binders
• No chemical additives required
• Prevents ingress of water and frost and subsequent damage
• Robust construction
• Quiet and clean in operation
• No vibration, thus avoiding 'white finger'

COLD EMULSION SPRAYERS

We supply a range of hand operated and motorised cold emulsion sprayers as well as a concure model. Sprayers are available as a static pump unit or on a mobile chassis. Drum lifting equipment is also an option.

POWERED BARROWS

The former Stothert and Pitt powered barrow is a versatile machine which, being less than 1m wide, is ideal for smaller, confined construction sites. The skip takes a 400kg load (180ls).

CHIP SPREADERS FOR HOT ROLLED ASPHALT

The 'Bristowes' CE95 pre-coated chip spreader is a unique self-propelled machine for laying of pre-coated chippings when surfacing in HRA. Latest design features incorporate hydraulic transmission, variable forward/reverse road speeds, distribution auger in place of travelling top hopper and a variety of enhanced safety features including 'dead man's handle'.

Spare parts are available for this new model as well as the previous Mark IV mechanical model.

THE 'SPRIDER' ASPHALT LAYER

An exciting new addition to our range is the 'Sprider' asphalt layer, which enables asphalt to be laid in small or difficult areas. Cost savings are achieved by a combination of better productivity, reduced labour and plant costs, the elimination of waste, and no unproductive time wasted cleaning up at the end of the job.

PAVER SPARES

We offer a comprehensive spare parts service for many makes of paver, with an extensive range of items available from stock for prompt delivery.

REVERSING DRUM MIXERS

Two sizes of mixer are available - the 750l (27/18) and the 400l (14/10) size. Other options include electric or diesel powered, water meter and loading shovel.

ROLL PAN MIXERS

As supplied to many educational establishments, the roll pan mixer is a specialised item of equipment for mixing mortars and plasters.

MASTIC ASPHALT MIXERS

We supply the 'Trojan' range of asphalt mixer, ranging in size from the 12cwt 'Scorpion' to the 4t 'Chieftan'.

GEOTEXTILES FOR SLOPE STABILITY AND DRAINAGE

We can provide geotextiles in a variety of grades and sizes for soil stabilisation and drainage.
