Maccaferri is a market leader in the manufacture, design and supply of gabion retaining structures and Reno mattress erosion control systems. These solutions are now complemented by erosion protection products including MacMat® R, Biomac® C and Enkamat®, as well as a wide range of geogrids for strengthened earthworks, soil reinforcement and slope stabilisation. Recent innovations include Steelgrid, high strength rock fall protection netting and Road Mesh™ reinforcement for asphalt pavements.

RETAINING STRUCTURES

We offer a complete range of modular retaining wall systems including gabions, timber crib walls and the engineered reinforced soil systems - Terramesh™ and Anchor segmental blockwork walls.

Our gabions, Terramesh and Anchor Landmark systems are BBA Roads and Bridges Certified.

Our precast concrete segmental blockwork walls feature the Anchor Vertica, Landmark and Diamond product ranges. These engineered blockwork walls offer the aesthetics of masonry walls with the strength of reinforced soil - the structural backfill to the wall is reinforced using polymer geogrids.

Maccaferri’s new timber crib retaining wall system consists of interlocking timber elements to form a very simple and rapid to build structure, which is then filled with stone.

EROSION PROTECTION

Maccaferri offers a wide range of solutions for erosion control including:

• Reno mattresses filled with stones for heavy hydraulic flows
• Enkamat and MacMat R non-degradable high performance erosion control mats / Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs)
• Armater geosynthetic cellular containment system to hold a depth of topsoil onto slopes to establish vegetation
• Biomac and Loopmat biodegradable erosion control blankets

ROCKFALL PROTECTION SYSTEMS

Maccaferri offers solutions for rockfall mitigation and protection systems to stop rocks falling from slopes and endangering lives and infrastructure.

Our new Steelgrid rock fall protection mesh integrates high tensile steel cables with our regular mesh to offer a biaxial or uni-axial high-strength drapery, it can also be used in conjunction with soil nails as a slope stabilisation system.

Our rockfall catch fences are certified up to an energy absorption of 2,000kJ, providing a rock fall protection barrier for most situations.

SLOPE REINFORCEMENT / SOIL REINFORCEMENT

To improve the properties of soil, geogrid reinforcement can be sandwiched between compacted soil layers enabling them to accommodate greater loads and steeper slopes. Our solutions also reduce ‘land-take’ and the costly import and export of materials, embracing sustainability. Maccaferri has significant experience in strengthened earthwork design.

Designers can select geogrids from Maccaferri’s wide range of soil reinforcement systems to suit specific soil conditions including:

• Terramesh – gabion faced soil reinforcement system using steel geogrids
• Green Terramesh – vegetating face slope reinforcement system using steel geogrids
• Paralink™ – heavy-duty sheathed geogrids with strengths up to 1250kN/m for basal reinforcement and piled embankments
• EnkaGrid™ and Paragrid™ – polymer geogrids for slope reinforcement, segmental retaining walls and blockwork walls

ASPHALT PAVEMENT REINFORCEMENT

Road Mesh is used in the upper bound layers of asphalt road pavements to offer:
