SemMaterials - Asphalts, Polymer Modified Asphalts, Asphalt Emulsions and Asphalt Paving Technologies

SemMaterials, one of the largest asphalt producers and marketers in the United States and Mexico, offers a diverse line of asphalts, polymer modified asphalts, asphalt emulsions and asphalt paving technologies that provide solutions for specific paving needs.

POLYMER MODIFIED ASPHALT

Stylink® polymer modified asphalts are used for hot mix asphalt, Superpave PG graded binders, airports, crack sealers, polymer modified asphalt emulsions and other high performance applications. Polymer modified asphalt products are formulated to meet AASHTO, ASTM, and state and local highway department specifications, as well as customer expectations for performance.

POLYMER MODIFIED CRACK SEALING AND MICRO-SURFACING

Ralumac® micro-surfacing - Ralumac uses a blend of polymer modified asphalt emulsion, fine aggregate and additives to improve skid resistance, fill ruts and protect and preserve both asphalt and PCC pavements.

Flex-A-Fill® crack sealants - Flex-A-Fill are highly polymer modified hot-applied asphalt materials designed to seal out water and incompressibles in asphalt and concrete (PCC) pavements, protecting the road structure and prolonging pavement life.

ASPHALT EMULSIONS

SemMaterials' asphalt emulsions are used for chip seal, sand seal, slurry seal, fog seal, micro-surfacing, cold in-place recycling, hot in-place recycling, base stabilization, full depth reclamation, pothole patch mix, cold mix, warm mix, tack coat, dust palliative, prime, crack-fill, crack-seal, driveway sealer and specialty applications.

Reflex® emulsion cold in-place recycling includes defined sampling and mix design procedures and a new chemistry emulsion, giving higher asphalt binder content and film thickness, as well as a typically quicker, more controllable curing time. It uses performance related specifications for ravel, rut, thermal crack, and moisture resistance.

ASPHALT EMULSION CHEMISTRY FOR SAFER ROADS

Novachip® ultrathin bonded wearing course is a durable surface treatment for asphalt and concrete (PCC) combining a thick polymer emulsion membrane with an ultrathin lift of gap-graded, high performance hot mix. It typically improves visibility in wet weather, has durable skid resistance, reduces tire noise and reduces user delays because of quick construction and durability.

Developed for the hot in-place recycling process, Encore® emulsion combines rejuvenator oils, polymers and asphalt for flexibility and durability in recycled pavements.

RoadArmor® high performance chip seal seals and protects high traffic pavements with quick construction and low user delays. It includes a new ultra-fast breaking emulsion chemistry, crushed single-sized clean and durable aggregates, a synchronized continuous application process (all-in-one machine) and performance-related specification tests.

ASPHALT PAVING TECHNOLOGIES

SemMaterials' asphalt paving technologies are used for virtually every type of paving, from Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), through innovative preventative and corrective maintenance techniques, to cost-effective and environmentally friendly rehabilitation of roads by recycling, reclamation and base stabilization.

SemMaterials' asphalt paving products emphasize sensible pavement preservation, asset management, quick traffic return, reduced user-delay, safety, accelerated construction and rapid renewal in full support of the Federal Highway Administration's Highways for Life initiative. SemMaterials' asphalt products are backed by a world-class team of technologists who are considered leading experts in their respective fields of asphalt modification and emulsification, performance-related specification and test development, and mixture and pavement design.

HIGH-PERFORMANCE ASPHALT TECHNOLOGIES

SemMaterials supplies the technology and liquid asphalt products and seeks quality contractors to construct high quality roads. The first step is working with agencies to determine the road distresses, needs and the right treatment, and putting the right treatment on the right pavement at the right time.

ASPHALT PRODUCTS AND TECHNOLOGIES

Strata® reflective crack relief system - Strata delays cracking and typically prevents moisture intrusion into cement (PCC) pavements with the use of a highly elastic, impermeable hot mix asphalt interlayer and HMA overlay designed to complement the interlayer. The system is manufactured and placed using conventional equipment.

Fortress® full depth reclamation / granular base stabilization - Fortress builds structure down into pavements by pulverizing, sizing and stabilizing existing pavements with an engineered emulsion. After compaction, the stabilized structure is ready for surfacing or future stage construction. It is a flexible but strong base for structurally upgrading pavements.
