Contemporary Controls - Network Infrastructure Products

Contemporary Controls has been designing and manufacturing network infrastruture products such as control systems and components since its inception in 1975. Its founder, George Thomas, is the president of a group of companies that, for the past twenty years, has concentrated on the development of innovative network infrastructure products.

Because of his history in, and influence on, this industry, Mr. Thomas is well known and respected, and has been invited onto several industry steering committees and trade association boards. He also authors several papers.

INFRASTRUCTURE PRODUCTS FOR THE INDUSTRIAL ETHERNET

Since the turn of the century, the company's product emphasis has been placed firmly on industrial Ethernet equipment, though it is also known as the premier supplier of Arcnet designs.

Contemporary Controls offers several families of rugged and reliable infrastructure products for the industrial Ethernet under the CTRLink® brand name.

These range from entry-level, plug-and-play, auto-everything switches, to fully-featured, high-end products that offer full management, redundancy and data control options. The company also offers a choice of other industrial Ethernet products, including media converters, routers, NICs, and network control and monitoring software.

MINIMAL EMC, DISTANCE OR ELECTRO-MAGNETIC INTERFERENCE

Every Contemporary Controls product is designed for non-stop operation in difficult environments where the possibility of failure is simply not an option. Shielded connectors, multi-layer ground-plane PCBs, and metal cases as standard throughout minimise the possibility of EMC interference.

Dual redundant low-voltage AC and / or DC power supply inputs and DIN-rail mounting provide for direct integration into a control system. Panel mounting is also available as standard on most product families.

An operating temperature range of 0°C to +60°C is offered for controlled environments, and -40°C to +75°C for outdoor use. Several optical fibre options are available, where distance or electro-magnetic interference issues need to be considered.

BESPOKE DESIGNS FOR SPECIAL APPLICATIONS

We will also be delighted to discuss with you the possibility of bespoke designs for special applications, in the unlikely event you are unable to find something suitable from our standard product range. A number of our regular products have started life in this way.

The company headquarters, which includes the principal research and development centre, and the manufacturing centre, is located close to Chicago, Illinois, with further development and production being undertaken in Germany and China. Contemporary Controls also has sales offices in the UK.

Together with a worldwide network of distributors and representatives, this means you are never far away from a local source of some of the best network infrastructure products available on the open market.
