Machine Updates to Accept New 5p and 10p Coins

The UK's only pay and display parking machine manufacturer has responded to the announcement that the Royal Mint is bringing out new, thicker 5p and 10p coins.

It is said that the steel, rather than copper and nickel coins, won't fit many older style parking machines.

Swindon-based Metric Parking confirm that machines which have not been updated will not accept the new 5p and 10p coins.

"We are continuing to accept orders on a daily basis from throughout the UK to carry out update works," said Richard Boultbee, Metric's UK sales and marketing manager.
