Gatsometer Assists in Increasing Road Traffic Safety in Morocco

17 January 2005

The National Committee of prevention of traffic accidents (CNPAC) in Morocco has started a national integrated road safety strategy based on an overall vision specific to its own context, with realistic targets lasting for a period of ten years. Such a vision consists of giving a national priority to road safety for a substantial and continuous reduction of fatalities and seriously injured victims of road accidents.

The objective is based on the inversion of the high number of yearly fatalities and serious injuries. In order to reach tangible results in keeping with the objective mentioned above, it was recommended to focus, amongst other things, on the following priorities:

  • Co-ordination and road safety management at high level
  • Legislation
  • Control and sanction
  • Driver training and driver licensing

Gatsometer is proud to assist in this road safety strategy. A number of the digital radars installed in vehicles are being used for effective control and sanction. The results are very positive.
