Following successful tests in the Netherlands, Gatsometer BV is to supply parabolic radar for traffic enforcement.
Gatso's lane-dedicated parabolic radar is a pencil-beam radar designed for overhead gantry installation and is used with the Gatso DRCS digital camera system to provide highly accurate speed measurement for an individual lane.
This versatile equipment is installed 6m-7m above each lane and can be used in a fixed configuration using either battery or mains power. Cameras can be networked, with each camera working individually, controlled remotely from the back office. The cameras capture images for each lane and are optimised for ANPR, making the licence plate easier to read. For optimum efficiency, the equipment is installed at a 30° downward angle. A specially-designed gantry housing is also available.
Managing Director of Gatsometer, Timo Gatsonides, says, "The pressure of increasing motorway traffic and the need for enforcement will initiate a growing need for gantry mounted enforcement equipment."
