International Mobility Systems (IMS) is a newly formed partnership between three strategically aligned operators in the road safety, engineering and camera enforcement fields. One of these companies, TMT Services, manages end-to-end traffic enforcement contracts throughout South Africa.

Since 2000, key developments have occurred with their traffic camera systems, which were developed to operate in the harsh South African environment, ensuring their operational functionality for all parts of the world.

DIGITAL ENFORCEMENT CAMERAS

IMS offers the safeTcam™ suite of digital enforcement cameras. The base products of this range are:

FIXED-SITE SPEED AND RED-LIGHT ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM

The safeTcam fixed-site speed and red light enforcement system is highly versatile, robust and rugged. It consists of three components: the Speed Measurement Device (SMD), the control kiosk and the camera system. Each module is separately mounted for easy co-existence with surrounding street infrastructure, while the modular and secure design allows for easy maintenance.

The safeTcam speed and red-light enforcement camera has multiple connection interfaces including USB, GPRS, HTTP and Ethernet. It can support a range of invasive (piezo loops) and non-invasive (radar) speed measurement mechanisms, and is designed for operations in the day, night and all weather conditions.

PORTABLE LASER SPEED ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM

IMS' safeTcam laser speed camera is a highly portable, accurate and versatile digital capture system that features an easy-to-use graphical user interface with a touch-screen.

This speed enforcement system consists of two primary components: the handheld laser or digital camera and the Field Computer Unit (FCU). It boasts full device-connectivity with Ethernet and GPS or GPRS capabilities. The camera is easily mounted onto a tripod for flexible location setup, and the external flash-unit means it can capture night shots.

MOBILE DIGITAL SPEED CAMERA SYSTEM

The safeTcam Mobile Digital Speed Camera (MDSC) is the latest addition to the safeTcam product range. Using the highly successful and functional laser camera operating system as its base, and a state-of-the-art radar sensor, it combines the ability to be remotely stationed on a tripod or fixed to a vehicle parked at the roadside, providing higher levels of efficiency and operator safety than other traditional types of portable and mobile systems.

ROBUST AND PORTABLE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT CAMERA

The safeTcam traffic enforcement camera is a ruggedised design intended to withstand high levels of force and typical outdoor and portable conditions. A range of easily connectable accessories, such as additional battery packs, flash units and external DVD add-ons, is also available.

A portable laser unit combines the speed measuring device and digital camera into a single unit.

IMAGE AND DATA INTEGRITY

The use of digital technologies allows for unprecedented levels of security from image capture to processing. All safeTcam camera systems can only be accessed by an authorised user with an iButton, and access to the system is determined by the rights allocated to the iButton.

Only an administrator or service iButton can authorise access to modify system settings, whereas an operator iButton can only be used to power on the system, conduct a camera session and write data to WORM media.

Every individual image captured by the system is encrypted using industry standard public key cryptography. Once encrypted, the file can only be accessed by a verifications system with the system application processing interface.
