KRIA Vehicle Detection Systems

KRIA designs and develops integrated vehicle detection systems in the mobility, traffic and safety sector, based on advanced digital sensors and image recognition software.

A group of internationally experienced professionals set up the company in Italy in 2002. In just a few years, KRIA has established a reputation for excellence based on the distinctive features and reliability of vehicle detection devices.

The key success factors of all KRIA systems are minimal environmental impact, no need for civil works to adapt the site and – above all – the reliability and efficacy of traffic violation detection and the corresponding incontrovertible documentation.

Speed and red light violation detection system

T-EXSPEED (EXtended SPEED) is the newest and most innovative digital system for the automatic detection of all the most important types of traffic violation: speed, average speed and red light. It measures the speed of vehicles (both instantaneous and average) up to 300km/h.

T-EXSPEED includes a free-running automatic license plate reading system (ALPR) function which has passed UNI 10772 certification with a 100% recognition rate.

Vehicle image processing software

T-EXSPEED's powerful image processing software can detect other complex trajectory-based violations like driving in the wrong direction, banned turning and overtaking, insufficient distance between vehicles, etc.

Based on special video cameras, it does not require additional sensors (inductive loops, radars or lasers). It is available in both vehicle-mounted and tripod options or as a stationary system.

Vehicle shape reconstruction, speed measurement and license-plate reading camera

The T-EXSPEED acquisition unit is equipped with two infrared, sensitive and one-colour megapixel video cameras for vehicle 3D shape reconstruction, speed measurement and license plate reading over two lanes, in the same direction of travel or in the opposite direction. Its infrared lighting system does not disturb drivers.

The T-EXSPEED processing unit detects one or more simultaneous vehicles. It uses the same images provided to document violations, meaning the violation can be checked and the speed measured afterwards both by the police and by the driver of the vehicle.

This patented feature, along with T-EXSPEED's ability to self-diagnose its calibration, reduces the possibility of challenging the alleged violations detected by the device.

The central T-EXSPEED event server manages multiple units and can be interfaced with third-party backend software.

Red light monitoring system

The T-RED red light monitoring system, completely based on video cameras and free-running image processing, does not need magnetic loops. The T-RED acquisition unit is equipped with infrared, sensitive and colour megapixel video cameras. Its infrared lighting system does not disturb drivers.

The T-RED digital system detects every vehicle passing at the red light, recognises its license plate, and stores the compressed video sequence of the passage. The stored colour video ensures complete evidence of the red light violation.

The processing unit of this red light monitoring system detects one or more simultaneous vehicles. It uses the same images provided to document violations, meaning the violation can be checked afterwards both by the police and by the driver of the vehicle.

T-RED is centralised over TCP/IP to the police control room for easy and fast data collection.

Automatic license plate reading system

The T-ID's ALPR function has passed standard and extended tests required for certification to Italian standard UNI 10772 with a 100% recognition rate and license plate camera and angle up to 60°.

The T-ID camera and infrared lighting system frames two parallel lanes and recognises parallel transits. Fast and easy T-ID installation does not require additional magnetic loops or photocells, and runs in self-triggering mode.

T-ID processes each video signal frame in real time, automatically detecting and recognising the vehicle license plate, and eventually checking it against black and white lists. It also reads license plates as well as any other alphanumeric code in an outdoor environment (e.g. ADR Kemler codes, freight container ISO codes, goods wagons, etc.).

T-ID does not require any special traffic canalisation, barriers or civil works in order to set it up. Its processing unit has a 100% recognition rate with vehicle speed up to 250km/h, in any weather condition.

T-ID is the right solution for automatic vehicle identification and access control at highway tollgates and metropolitan zones. Downsized versions are available for car park and private zone security applications.
