Truvelo - Speed Measurement, Traffic Data and Automatic Traffic Enforcement Systems

Truvelo is a leading manufacturer of reliable and accurate speed measurement and high-speed WIM (Weigh-In-Motion) equipment for traffic law enforcement and vehicle data gathering.

Truvelo products are manufactured predominantly for police / traffic departments, law enforcement agencies, civil engineers and road construction agencies.

TRUVELO COMBI: SPEED AND RED LIGHT PHOTO ENFORCEMENT AND TRAFFIC DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM

The TRUVELO COMBI is the only system to offer three traffic management options in one compact instrument, as it is an automatic speed / traffic light violation recording system equipped with a 35mm camera, with the capacity to capture and process data.

Speed measurement: the COMBI system utilises two of the most reliable speed measurement methods. Multiple primary speed measurements are made using three or four thin piezo sensors, either sub-surface (installed at permanent or semi-permanent sites) or surface-mounted (used at temporary sites for random speed checks).

Red light violations: a vehicle violating the red phase at an intersection is recorded on two photographs.

Front and rear vehicle photography: the COMBI system provides three photographic software options. The first option takes a picture of the front of the vehicle, providing an image of the front number plate and the driver. A second software option, suitable for front or rear vehicle photography, takes two photographs of a vehicle, 20m apart. The third option takes two photographs of only the rear of the vehicle, separated by half-a-second.

Data processing:a paper printer, when attached to the remote control unit, will print detailed information about each violation as well as statistical information required for monitoring the success of law enforcement programmes.

The COMBI operates completely automatically. For permanently installed sites a stainless steel housing is supplied as standard, fitted with bullet proof plates and glass to protect the instrument against hand guns and vandalism.

MOVING VIOLATION RECORDER (MVR) FOR MOBILE SPEED MEASUREMENT

The Truvelo MVR is a speed-measuring instrument designed for mounting inside patrol vehicles. The system enables traffic officers to measure vehicle speeds and enforce speed limits during the course of normal traffic patrol duties. This compact speed-measuring instrument is designed to assist the officer make fast and accurate decisions when it comes to stop reckless and / or speeding motorists.

TRAFFIC DATA LOGGER (TDL) FOR TRAFFIC DATA COLLECTION

The Truvelo TDL-500 provides accurate, reliable, high-speed Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) data. Such data provides authorities with reliable statistics in order to monitor the damage factor on road network systems and then carry out road design and rehabilitation programs.

Data from the TDL-500 is used for many different applications, including:

  • Road pavement design and planning
  • Predicting levels of pollution in tunnels based on actual vehicle weights
  • Axle load monitoring and screening
  • Recording of relative load movements

The TDL-500 takes data from inductive loops and sensors that are either placed on top of the road pavement (for portable applications) or are mounted in the pavement in stainless steel pans in order to monitor axle loading (for permanent sites). The road sensors cover a maximum of four traffic lanes.

The TDL-500 combines the sensor information into a default data string consisting of such vehicle data as number, chassis height, speed, length, class, number of axles, axle weight, as well as data such as weight violations, bridge overloading, arrival date and time, lane number, travel direction, trailer present, etc.

The stored data can be extracted via the instrument display, sent to a paper printer or transferred to a computer via direct RS232 connection or modem.

HANDHELD ROAD SPEED MEASUREMENT AND TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PRODUCTS

Truvelo also manufactures the following products:

  • Truvelo Fibre Optic Sensor (FOS) - designed for permanent road installation, this traffic data processing FOS is designed for such applications as vehicle detection, speed measurement and vehicle classification
  • ProLaser III - provides speed enforcement with pinpoint accuracy - the operator pulls the trigger, obtains a near-instant reading and instantly has positive target identification; can operate in harsh weather conditions
  • Truvelo Lidar - an instrument for speed measurement of approaching and departing vehicles
  • Truvelo Lidar-D Cam - automated laser speed measurement system with digital image recording
