CONSTRUCTION RISK MANAGEMENT SERVICES

C3 has been providing construction risk management services to the road traffic industry for a number of years. Although we are based in Dublin, we have provided risk management services for some of the most complex and challenging projects around the world, locally as well as remotely, using our proprietary risk management software package.

WHAT IS RISK MANAGEMENT?

In all projects, a measure of risk exists that threatens to push the project over budget or beyond its deadline. Implementing construction risk management procedures allows for identification, qualification, quantification and subsequent tracking of risks on a project, thereby lowering the threat that risks pose to a project, and possibly even eliminating some risks altogether. This process leads to lower project costs, fewer time extensions required, and overall a cleaner tighter project being delivered.

C3 RISK MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

We use the C3 Risk Manager software package to deliver our clients all-round risk management assessments.

Trial versions of the C3 Risk Manager software are available upon request.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

C3 offer project management services both in Dublin and elsewhere in Ireland. In the business world, projects are the very essence of improvement and progress. They require a large investment in time, money and effort, but can bring significant returns. Almost always, projects mean change.

We at C3 recognise this need for change and our project management teams offer a range of services designed to support our clients through the transitional phases of all projects.

The project management sector covers road, rail, air and sea transportation projects. Examples of projects include providing cost advice of PPP road / tunnel projects, full cost management services on major rail network improvements and expansion projects.

COST MANAGEMENT PROJECT - DUBLIN EASTERN BYPASS

The Dublin Eastern Bypass is a concept to complete the ring around the city centre and link the Dublin Port Tunnel in North Dublin to the M50 Motorway, in the south.

C3 provided cost management services as part of a project specific alliance between the companies of Roughan & O’Donovan, Maunsell, Scetauroute and CDC IXIS supported by C3 (formerly known as Currie & Brown (IRL) Ltd.) Transroute, SIAS and ISIS are known collectively as Thoir Consult.

This potential PPP project was a complex scheme with a number of potential risks in various disciplines evident prior to the planning process.

Part of the C3 team's responsibility is for the provision of services for Phase I of the project, in relation to the functions of cost management and risk modelling.

Specific deliverables include:

  • The preparation of a robust capital cost estimate
  • Creation of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Initial cost estimates of each route option
  • Initial estimates of total construction costs and associated escalation, risk and other necessary contingencies
