JAI is a global provider of video imaging hardware and vehicle identification software used in large-scale intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects, including electronic toll collection (ETC), open road tolling (ORT), congestion charging, travel time information, parking enforcement, red light enforcement, speed enforcement, bus lane enforcement, and other applications. Video imaging hardware includes high-resolution CCD cameras and CMOS cameras, visible and IR lighting (both continuous and flash illumination), external light sensors, and full Ethernet networking capabilities for connection to image processing hardware. Software includes high-performance automatic license plate reading (ALPR / ANPR), JAI's patented image matching software, and powerful image server software. VEHICLE IMAGING SUBSYSTEMSVIS-CAM 300, 350, and 400 vehicle-imaging subsystems bring together an integrated combination of JAI hardware and software components into pre-configured subsystems capable of delivering high resolution, high-contrast vehicle images for a wide range of application requirements. VIS-CAM vehicle imaging subsystems easily integrate with a variety of lane controllers to provide precise full frame images of rapidly moving vehicles (up to 327km/h). The systems employ JAI's patent-pending light sensor technology, which continuously measures the instantaneous dynamic range of plate / vehicle brightness to electronically adapt camera gain and shutter speed for optimal image quality. Zoom lenses, anti-glare filters and heated, weatherproof enclosures for all-weather operation are amongst the features delivered with VIS-CAM vehicle imaging subsystems. VEHICLE IMAGING CAMERA OPTIONSCamera options for VIS-CAM vehicle imaging subsystems range from low-cost sub-megapixel models, to models offering wide-angle HDTV format, to advanced, no-smear, high dynamic-range cameras. AUTOMATIC LICENSE PLATE READING SOFTWAREJAI's automatic license plate reading software (ALPR) uses advanced algorithms to identify license plates / number plates in captured images and extract the plate information for toll collection, ticket writing, or other tasks. The software has been field proven in a variety of large-scale deployments in both North America and Europe. VEHICLE MATCHING SOFTWAREIn addition to ALPR / ANPR, JAI offers patented vehicle matching software that uses special image-based pattern recognition techniques to overcome issues that produce 'bad reads' for typical license plate readers. JAI's matching software creates a 'visual fingerprint' of vehicles, which avoids the problems of unreadable characters due to plate damage, or visual obstructions such as trailer hitches, trunk overhangs, etc. The combination of LPR and matching software enables JAI to deliver performance that is 10% better than the industry average, leading to lower operational costs and higher revenues for roadway operators. IN-IMAGE TRIGGERING CAMERA SYSTEMFor projects where a leaner deployment is needed or desired, JAI offers the in-image triggering (IIT) camera system, an all-in-one, self-triggering solution incorporating one or two cameras, illuminator, vehicle detector / trigger, and ALPR / ANPR processing in a compact, all-weather housing. The all-in-one design enables easy deployment on poles or gantries, while the patent-pending self-triggering operation provides greater accuracy than ground loops or laser detectors without roadbed excavation or costly infrastructure. PROVEN TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGYJAI has more than a decade of experience delivering high-performance traffic management solutions around the world. From parking enforcement systems in Japan, to bus lane enforcement in London, to open road tolling in Canada and the US, JAI's traffic solutions are proven in real-world environments.
