Q-Free ASA - Electronic Toll Collection Systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems


Q-Free® provides products and systems for Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) and Manual Toll Collection (MTC). We supply stand-alone products for integration as well as complete systems for turn-key delivery to our customers. Our ETC product range comprises single lane DSRC free flow equipment, multilane equipment and on-board units. All our DSRC ETC equipment is compliant with European and national standards world wide. The products are known for their high performance and high reliability.

MD5800 TAG FAMILY: CEN DSRC COMPLIANT TAGS

MD5800 Tag Family includes a variety of CEN DSRC compliant tags designed to meet specific customer needs. These include:

  • MD5885/MD5888 tags facilitate secure central account for payment and access control, and container tracking
  • MD5892 tag with CAN/serial interface is designed to meet recent requirements for tolling of heavy goods vehicles and may be integrated with other parts of vehicle
  • MD5898 tag facilitates payment via smart cards and is designed to meet the EMV requirements for secured and interoperable transactions

MD5800 TAG READER FAMILY

MD5800 tag reader family includes the MD5850 reader, suited for fixed installations - both single lane and multilane - and enables reliable communication with the tag at vehicle speeds ranging from 0-160km/h in most weather conditions.

ETC SYSTEM

In 1995, Q-Free® ASA provided the world's first nationwide ETC system to Portugal's leading concessionaire BRISA - Auto-Estradas de Portugal, S.A. according to the 5.8GHz ISM band. Even today, this is the world's largest ETC system measured by the number of tag-subscribers (1.5 million).

NATIONAL TOLL CLEARING SYSTEM

In 2002, Q-Free® ASA was awarded the contract for National Toll Clearing System for Norway involving clearing between ten different toll operators and handling of more than 800,000 tag client accounts. The system includes trusted third party services, as well as on-line customer call and support services. This allows the client to use the toll services by different toll operators without having to register his tag more than once.
