Barrier Systems Barrier Systems for Road Traffic Congestion

Lindsay Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment, acquired Barrier Systems in 2006. Barrier Systems a manufacturer of proprietary is movable barriers for lane management and highway crash cushions (to improve) for the safety of motorists and highway workers.

Movable barriers for lane management

Moveable barriers are designed to cost-effectively increase capacity whilst reducing congestion by making more efficient use of new or existing roadways. This is especially beneficial for high-volume highways with directional traffic and where the lack of funding may slow or inhibit new construction.

The system can transfer a mile of high-performance concrete barrier up to two lanes in less than ten minutes, offering highway agencies an innovative strategy for making our congested highway system more efficient, safe and functional. These benefits can be realized in less than one year and at a fraction of the cost of building new lanes for highways, bridges and viaducts.

Moveable barrier systems can also be used to create a positive traffic barrier between regular traffic and construction work zones. The system provides more lanes for the peak traffic direction while creating a larger work zone for the contractor to increase efficiency and accelerate the construction process.

Roadway safety products

Since 1985 when Barrier Systems first introduced the quickchange moveable barrier (QMB), road authorities around the world have been taking advantage of this low-cost solution for adding lanes for rush-hour traffic to reduce congestion improve safety and increase traffic throughput.

Now Barrier Systems has used their award-winning knowledge and expertise to expand product lines to include a multitude of roadway safety products.
