eyevis Wins Major Control Room Projects

12 December 2008

This year, eyevis, the German specialist for visual solution for control rooms, proved that they are one of the leading manufacturers in the field. Several new products have already been launched this year, along with lots of new developments due to be launched at the ISE in Amsterdam in February 2009.

In 2008, several big contracts from all over the world were realized. The reason for this was the superior quality and features of the eyevis products, as well as the excellent service level offered. Most of these projects have been awarded after a detailed market survey of the customers, as well as for some in a direct benchmark test, which compared the different suppliers of these kinds of systems.

ANAS, the Italian road administrator

With a duty to maintain the public roads and motorways in Italy, ANAS has 6,700 employees and operates a network of approximately 27,000km. For the visualisation of these modern ITS applications (video cameras and telematics systems, etc.), ANAS chose German large-screen technology by eyevis. By the end of 2008, a total of 100 rear-projection cubes, several LCD monitors, several graphics controllers and software solutions were built in these 19 new control centres all over Italy, which have video walls of different sizes.

ADIF – the Spanish railway administrator

Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF) is a Spanish public cooperation reliable for the operation of the Spanish railway network and stations. eyevis installed equipment in the control centre in Zaragoza, Spain. In the control room is 42 x EC-67-HD-DL (DLP™ rear-projection cubes with HD resolution, 67in screen, diagonal and automatic double-lamp system) in a 14x3 configuration, two Netpix 3844XE-HD-V16-D4-X6E (high-end graphics controller with HD outputs for the display of video and data signals), two ECS900R and the eyecon wall management software, Premium.

The open and flexible design of the eyevis products allowed a trouble-free integration of the system into the existing hard and software environment provided by Indra and Dimetronic. This is the first video-wall in this size with native full HD rear-projection cubes, as eyevis is the only manufacturer of HD cubes for video-walls.

KEPCO – Korean Electric Power Corporation

Eyevis has won a project with KEPCO, the state-owned energy provider in South Korea, through a benchmark test with all manufacturers of these kinds of systems. The systems were built next to each other and the customer chose the best solution. In total, ten sites will be installed.

In the power distribution regional command center, eyevis will supply two sites with 6x3 EC-50-SXT+-DL with redundant npx3818R-V16-R4 and eyecon, and a further three sites with 7x3 EC-50-SXT-DL with redundant npx3824R-V16-R4 and eyecon.

In the power distribution regional management center, eyevis will supply five sites with 4x2 EC-67-SXT+-DL, npx3808R and eyecon.

United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland

The UN Human Rights Councils’ new assembly hall of human rights and the alliance of civilisations, described as the Sistine Chapel of the 21st century, was inaugurated in October 2008 by Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon and Swiss President Pascal Couchepin.

In this room, two video walls from eyevis are used, each consisting of 3x2 50in rear projection cubes with SXGA+ resolution. The Spanish abstract artist, Miguel Barceló, has made a spectacular new artwork at the ceiling of this hall. The complete project was financed by the Spanish government and major Spanish companies.
