Traffic Design has been active since 1990. Our activities have always been focused on the development, integration and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in road traffic. Our range of products includes traffic control and management systems, traffic detectors, variable message signs, and video surveillance cameras. Traffic Design prides itself on innovative development. The latest information technology, combined with solutions from the traffic-engineering field, ensures successful implementation of ITS. Traffic Design continues to research and develop ITS systems, with the aim of developing of a complex model for the optimisation of traffic flows. TRAFFIC CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (TCMS)Due to the spatial and economic limits it will not be possible to meet growing traffic demands by merely constructing new roads. For this reason, contemporary traffic control and management systems are gaining importance, since they allow us to improve the traffic flow and thus make better use of the possibilities offered by the existing road network. Traffic control and management systems also improve traffic safety, reduce negative impacts on the environment and cut transportation costs. Traffic Design's Traffic Control and Management System (TCMS) is based on modern technology that allows fast, reliable and efficient real time transfer of all data. Current data on traffic, weather and other conditions on the road is collected and adequately processed in the control centre. Data collected in this way is analysed and the resulting information is immediately communicated to the road users. TCMS is designed on the assumption that fibre-optic and telecommunication systems will enable real time transfer of data and images. TRAFFIC DETECTORSTraffic Design's traffic detectors include microwave detectors and video-detection cameras. The data acquired with traffic detectors includes:
Traffic detectors are also capable of detecting stopped or slow-moving vehicles and vehicles driving the wrong way. Microwave Detectors (MWD) enable detection in one lane. They are located on the bottom of the TCMS sign above the middle of each driving lane. The MWD transmits the measured data through telecommunication links to Local Station (LS) and from there it is sent to the control centre. Video-Detection Cameras (VDC) consist of a video camera and a digital image processor. The advantage of this system is that the digitalisation and processing are carried out within the camera itself. Since the processor is inside the camera, no poor image transfer is possible, which allows more precise vehicle detection. VDC sends the data through telecommunication links to the control centre. VIDEO SURVEILLANCE CAMERASThe system of traffic Video Surveillance (VS) is designed as visual control of traffic at a certain section, which enables remote image transfer. Images are taken in the classical way, through revolving VS cameras that are placed to allow control over the whole road section. The selected technology allows day, as well as night, surveillance. An additional advantage of Traffic Design's VS system is the fast transfer and execution of commands for the camera movements. VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGNSVariable Message Signs (VMS) are a means of informing drivers while they are on the road. Traffic Design provides three types of VMS – VMS Portal, VMS Semiportal and VMS Traffic Signs. The VMS Portal, consisting of three fields, is intended as means of informing motorway drivers. The VMS Semiportal informs drivers on connecting roads. It has two fields – a central one-coloured field and a side two-coloured field. VMS Traffic Signs inform drivers joining the motorway traffic. They can be positioned on the right and left edge of the road, a certain distance from the end of the acceleration lane of individual entry slip road. It also consists of one two-coloured field.
