Term: Speed Humps


Definition:

Speed humps (or bumps) are convex elevations installed across residential roads that act on the dynamics of vehicles in such a way that the drivers have to reduce their speed to avoid discomfort to themselves or damage to their vehicles. They are designed to calm traffic without restricting access to the roads.
