Qatar’s Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ and Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation through the ‘Wain’ application, which has been created to guide road users and provide updated information on new roads and traffic movement.

The partnership between QMIC and Ashghal aims to achieve the Qatari Government’s direction to encourage producers and developers in the country.

Furthermore, it aims to make the most of all completed roads and infrastructure projects in order to enhance traffic flow and improve the lives of citizens and residents alike.

Wain, which is fully developed and produced in Qatar, provides the latest maps of the country’s roads networks, as well as cycle and pedestrian ways.

Additionally, the application provides a comprehensive view of traffic conditions and congestion areas according to information collected through a data collection network.

It also provides navigation service using the digital addressing system called ‘Enwani’ as an additional option to reach the desired destinations.

Users will be prompted when they exceed the legal speed limit near fixed-speed cameras, for their safety and the safety of other road users.

They will also receive notifications through the application about the availability of car parking in many important locations.

The MoU was signed by Qatar Public Works Authority president Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi and QMIC executive director Dr Adnan Abu Dayya at a press conference event.

The conference also included a presentation about the progress of cycleways and pedestrian paths’ network in the projects implemented by Ashghal.
