Granite Construction, Parsons and Corman Construction JV (joint venture) was awarded a $410m contract by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to design and develop the first phase of the Interstate 64 (I-64) South Side Widening and High Rise Bridge located in Virginia, US.

The JV will be responsible for the widening of eight miles of the I-64 in Chesapeake, from four lanes to six lanes. It will also provide an extra managed lane in each direction for motorists. Granite Construction holds 50% stake in the JV.

Construction work is slated to begin this November and expected to be completed in July 2021.

Smart Parking has been awarded an A$8m ($6m) contract by Hobart City Council to install 2,100 in-ground parking sensors across the city by 2018.

The new system will include in-ground parking sensors, which can detect vehicle arrival and notify parking inspectors electronically if the motorist exceeds parking time limits. Installation of the new system is slated to begin in early 2018.

Australian Parking and Revenue Control will provide assistance to Smart Parking for the installation of the integrated parking system.

The parking sensors were rolled out after the completion of comprehensive testing at Hobart’s Central Business District (CBD).
