Swedish commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania has teamed up with Haylion Technologies for the development of electric and driverless automobiles.

The collaboration will focus on the commercialisation of autonomous and intelligent vehicles, and development of non-fossil fuel-powered road transport solutions.

Haylion has established a team of experts in the areas of artificial intelligence, transport and automation to facilitate the development of autonomous driving solutions.

A joint venture (JV) of CPB Contractors and Seymour Whyte Constructions has secured a road duplication contract from the Victorian Government.

The JV will be responsible for the duplication of a 12.5km-long section of the Western Highway between Buangor and Ararat in Australia.

The total investment for the duplication of the Western Highway is estimated at A$500m ($396m).

The project is scheduled to complete in 2020.

Gjoka Konstruksion has been selected by the Albanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy for the development of Arber Road, which links Tirana with Diber. The proposed project will be built at a cost of $298m.

Gjoka will be responsible for the construction and management of the bi-lane highway for a period of 13 years, under the concession contract. The proposed project will reduce the travelling distance between two cities by 74km and the travelling time by 1.5 hours.

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction (RLW), a subsidiary of Sterling Construction Company, has secured a $136m-worth road contract from the Utah department of transportation (UDOT).

Under the contract, RLW will enhance the I-15 / I-25 interchange and refurbish bridges connecting 12300 South and SR-20. It will also construct new lanes and replace the existing railroad constructions on 7200 South.

The contractual scope also covers related works such as earthwork, construction of drainage, bridge widening and utility connections. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.
