Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority (RMTA) has awarded a contract to TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, to design and maintain its next-generation toll collection system in Richmond Virginia, US.

The contractor will provide cash, mixed mode, and an open road tolling (ORT) system without any software or hardware changes across 57 lanes and three expressways in Richmond as part of the contract.

The system will be installed along the Downtown Expressway, Powhite Parkway and the Boulevard Bridge.

TransCore will offer complete maintenance services of the Infinity solution using Insight Maintenance Online Management System (MOMS), as well as monitor all Infinity lanes and server environments from the national Maintenance Monitoring Centre.

South Korean carmaker Hyundai has agreed to work with HERE Technologies, a mapping and location services provider, to provide real-time traffic data and navigation solutions for drivers.

The North American Hyundai car models that are fitted with navigation head unit displays include the 2018 Elantra GT, Sonata, Tucson and Ionic, as well as the forthcoming Hyundai Kona, which will be provided with real-time traffic and navigation information powered by HERE Technologies at no extra cost, as part of the agreement.

HERE Real-Time Traffic will be the world’s first service that will link sensor data emitting from the connected car fleets.

Hyundai will provide map updates through its Multimedia and Navigation Update Programme.
