Synergy joint venture (JV) has won a contract to upgrade the Bruce Highway between Sankeys Road and Traveston Road in the state of Queensland, Australia.
Synergy JV comprises Civil Mining Corporation, Downer EDI Works and Probuild Civil. The contract value has not been disclosed.
The joint venture will begin laying bitumen along the 9km corridor from next month, and will also build an overpass and bridges over Coles Creek.
The work forms part of the third phase of the A$613m ($616.8m) Bruce Highway project.
Upon completion, the new 12km section of four-lane, divided highway will provide safer driving conditions, with wide shoulders, emergency stopping bays and intelligent transport systems, according to the Queensland Government.
The project commenced in September 2009 and will be complete by 2012.
The fourth construction contract, which includes the construction of an interchange near Traveston Road and bridges over Skyring Creek, is expected to start later this year.
