Astaldi and Max Boegl win Romanian highway contract
Romanian highways company CNADNR has awarded a €141m contract to Astaldi and Max Boegl Construction Company to construct the Cernavoda–Medgidia highway in Romania.
Under the contract, the two companies will design and implement a 20.5km segment of the Sun Highway (A2 highway) and complete the project by 2012.
The project will be funded by the European Investments Bank (EIB), cohesion funds from the European Commission and the state budget.
Romania had initially awarded the contract to French company Colas but cancelled it earlier this year due to delays.
The A2 highway project is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
