The Missouri Department of Transportation (MDOT) will renovate 802 bridges at a cost of about $700m in total as part of its Safe and Sound Bridge Improvement Programme.

The first bridge over Hominy Creek in Polk County was reopened on 27 April 2009 after replacement of deck in 60 days.

The repair of two more bridges in Howell County and St. Francois County will be complete by the first week of May 2009.

MDOT plans to deliver 248 repair projects through normal bidding processes by October 2014.

Additionally, a team selected by the commission will award a single design-build contract for a package of the remaining 554 bridge replacements in May.
