Qatar's newly opened Ras Abu Aboud Tunnel has been equipped with a tunnel management system from Traffic Tech and Telegra.
The system uses intelligent transportation system components and provides real-time information, vehicle guidance, lane control, automatic incident detection, speed enforcement and an automated and synchronised system configuration to manage emergency incidents.
Lane lights for better lane visibility as well as three over-height vehicle detection systems to restrict entry of vehicles taller then 5.5m are also included.
Other tunnel components including emergency telephones, a fire alarm system, illumination, a ventilation system and surveillance cameras are included in the system and monitored and operated through a graphical user interface in the tunnel's control room.
The 330m, two-lane, one-way tunnel links Corniche and Wakrah Road and leads to New Doha International Airport.
