Costain has won a £139m ($200m) road scheme contract to construct a dual carriageway in Lancashire, UK.

Lancashire County Council awarded the contract that involves developing and building a major road decongestion and regeneration scheme.

The 4.8km long two-lane dual carriageway is intended to connect the road near Torrisholme to a remodelled junction on the motorway near Halton.

The project will involve building around 20 major structures, including bridges over the West Coast Mainline railway, Lancaster Canal and the River Lune.

The UK-based construction company is also expected to help the council in taking the scheme through the statutory process.
