Audi of America and Traffic Technology Services (TTS) is launching the first V2I technology, called Traffic Light Information on select 2017 Audi Q7, A4 and A4 all-road models this year.

An Audi connect PRIME feature, Traffic Light Information allows the car to communicate with the infrastructure in select cities and metropolitan areas across the US.

Through an advanced traffic management system, which monitors traffic lights, the vehicle can receive real-time signal information.

"Continuous innovation in connected car services and advanced driver assistance systems that enrich and improve the customer experience is at the core of the Audi brand."

This link between vehicle and infrastructure is channeled through the on-board LTE data connection and servers of traffic technology services.

Audi of America president Scott Keogh said: “Continuous innovation in connected car services and advanced driver assistance systems that enrich and improve the customer experience is at the core of the Audi brand and our collective future."

At a connected traffic light, the driver information system in the instrument cluster and the head-up-display will display the time left for the signal to change to green.

Audi of America will commence launching its new Traffic Light Information later this year in select smart cities and metropolitan areas across the country through 2017 and beyond.
