The Australian and New South Wales (NSW) Governments are implementing several safety measures on the Pacific Highway at Valla.

The move is in response to the fatal traffic accident at Valla that killed two people.

The accident took place on 20 November, and involved a collision between a NSW ambulance and another car.

"The NSW government is working with council, police and other stakeholders to get additional safety measures in place as soon as possible."

Both the mother and daughter travelling in the car were killed despite the immediate efforts of the medical team.

A strategy to improve safety has been developed, after the government carried out an inspection and meetings with community representatives.

NSW minister for roads, maritime and freight Duncan Gay said: "A range of measures will be soon be implemented.

"The NSW government is working with council, police and other stakeholders to get additional safety measures in place as soon as possible, and we will keep the community informed of these traffic changes in coming weeks."

As part of this initiative, new electronic signs will be updated with messaging that provides a greater focus on driver safety.

Valla Beach directional signage will be relocated to improve driver visibility, while speed limits will also be reduced and enforced.

Works will also include upgrading traffic signs and undertaking further line marking to ensure all traffic conditions are clearly communicated to drivers.
