Axis Communications, a Swedish company that provides network video, has introduced two multisensor panoramic cameras, the P3707-PE and Q3708-PVE, that have the ability to cover large areas, thereby eliminating the need for multiple camera installations.

The cameras are easy to install and require less maintenance costs.

They are designed for large scale video surveillance in areas such as at major traffic intersections, airport terminals, railway stations and other public places.

The cameras use Axis’ Zipstream technology, which helps with assessing details of interest.

Axis Northern Europe regional director of business development Daren Lang said: "The new cameras address the market need for fixed, high-resolution panoramic cameras for superb wide area surveillance.

"With several cameras in one, they reduce the number of cameras that need to be mounted, making them a cost-effective solution.

"AXIS P3707-PE provides a 360° overview, or a combination of overviews and close-ups in different directions, ideal for use in wide areas, at intersections of hallways or roads, or from the corners of buildings.

"With AXIS Q3708-PVE, you have a high-resolution 180° camera with excellent low-light and wide dynamic range capabilities."

AXIS P3707-PE is equipped with four camera heads, which enable this device to cover maximum area from a single point.

These cameras can be re-positioned along a circular track to point in the required viewing direction.

"With several cameras in one, they reduce the number of cameras that need to be mounted, making them a cost-effective solution."

Each camera head can be individually tilted to provide a 108° to 54° horizontal field of view for either wide or zoomed-in views.

The P3707-PE device supports configurable video streams for each camera head, in addition to quad-view streaming.

This enables 1080p resolution videos at 12.5 / 15 frames each second and 720p videos at full frame rate.

AXIS Q3708-PVE comes with three lenses. It has wide dynamic range forensic capture technology and low-light capabilities to give good image quality in all lighting conditions.
