Australia-based BMD Urban has upgraded the Mervyn Crossman and William Angliss intersection in Annandale for Townsville City Council in Queensland, in order to improve the traffic flow through the busy arterial route.

The works covered by the BMD Group subsidiary included drainage system upgrades to accommodate additional water flow during the wet season and the conversion of the existing intersection to a dual-lane roundabout.

BMD Urban also has built a new left-turn slip lane from William Angliss Drive to Mervyn Crossman Drive.

"For completing this project, BMD Urban worked with the nearby stakeholders."

In order to improve pedestrian safety, the construction firm installed pedestrian traffic signals at the relocated crossing, which services the local schools and sporting facilities.

Used by motorists travelling between University Road and the Central Business District (CBD), the intersection serves as the main access point for several schools and the Murray Sporting Complex.

For completing this project, BMD Urban worked with the nearby stakeholders.

No injuries and traffic incidents were reported during this period.

BMD has been working with the Townsville City Council for more than two decades delivering infrastructure projects.

With the completion of the upgrades, road users and pedestrians have benefited from reduced congestion, improved connectivity and safer road conditions.
