Australia-based Daracon Contractors has won a contract to upgrade Old Wallgrove Road in Western Sydney, Australia.

New South Wales (NSW) minister for roads and freight Duncan Gay said: "The upgrade of Old Wallgrove Road aims to improve access to the Western Sydney employment area and increase safety for all road users, including the many heavy vehicles travelling between the M4 and the M7.

"The NSW government has provided $95 million toward the upgrade, which will include a new 400m link road and widening of the 1km section of Wallgrove Road at the M7 interchange.

"The upgrade of Old Wallgrove Road aims to improve access to the Western Sydney employment area and increase safety for all road users."

"Work will also involve moving utilities, installing new traffic lights, retaining walls and street lighting, improving drainage and landscaping.

"In July last year, the NSW government completed the 3.1km Erskine Park Link Road, which has unlocked thousands of hectares of land for development and new employment."

New South Wales Legislative Assembly member Andrew Rohan said: "These upgrades will build on safety improvements already delivered by the new road, which is redirecting trucks from residential streets to the M4 and M7 motorways.

"Upgrade work is expected to start in October and be finished in mid-2016 with sections to be progressively opened as quickly as possible."
