Highways England (HE) has appointed the joint venture of Skanska, Costain, Balfour Beatty and Carillion to perform road improvement works on the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon in the east of England.

The £876m ($1.07bn) contract will include new highway construction, widening and improvement of existing highways in Cambridgeshire County.

Early works on the project have already begun, while full completion is scheduled for December 2019.

In another deal, Skanska has signed a SEK2.9bn ($337m)worth  sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Edge Orbital Holdings to sell its stake in Connect Plus, which manages the M25 motorway in London, UK.

Skanska will divest its 40% ownership in the company, which is co-owned by Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis.

The divestment is expected to be completed next year, subject to the completion of the sale with the consent of Highways England (HE).
