FLIR Systems Australia has launched a range of new thermal night-vision cameras that can be installed in vehicles to automatically detect people, animals or objects in the dark.

The PathFindIR II thermal night-vision system uses FLIR’s latest night-time video analytic algorithms to automatically detect and alert pedestrians and animals, as well as increase safety on the road at night.

FLIR’s PathFindIR II cameras are built following the success of the original PathFindIR.

However, the latest version is added with a unique night-time pedestrian detection feature that can be configured to automatically raise alarms and alert drivers when something comes in the vehicle’s path.

The thermal night-vision cameras can be deployed in passenger vehicles, trucks and other emergency service vehicles, giving operations the chance to view through smoke, find victims and catch suspects at night.

They can also be used on mining vehicles, which operate in dark and dusty conditions, to keep both people and operations safe.

FLIR CEO Andrew Teich says that the PathFindIR II can make driving safer and more enjoyable, giving every driver expanded awareness of what is going on around them.
