Muscat-based Galfar (SAOG) has been awarded a RO51m ($131m) contract for the dualisation of the Izz-Adam section of the Nizwa-Thumrait road in Oman.

The project involves the dualisation of 46km of road, which the company will turn into a double lane pass for 36km, and the construction of a new road covering 13km.

The dualisation of Izz-Adam single carriageway is expected to provide safe and efficient movement of goods to and from the port of Salalah.

The project is part of the Transport and Communications Ministry’s mission to enhance motoring safety on the Sultanate’s carriageways.

The road project is scheduled to be complete in 912 days, which excludes 60 days for mobilisation.
