Hindustan Construction (HCC) has secured a INR3.9bn ($64m) project from the Indian Ministry of Road Transport & Highway to rebuild a 65.87km section of NH-233 on the Indo-Nepal border.

The project is part of the National Highway Development Program Phase IV. Under the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract, HCC will rebuild the road from Rudhauli, Uttar Pradesh, to the Indo-Nepal border, which connects to Lumbini, Nepal.

The project work includes rehabilitation, upgrading and widening of the existing roadway into two lanes.

"Being part of this development is a matter of immense pride."

HCC will also build paved shoulders, pavements, and rehabilitate major and minor bridges, culverts, road intersections, interchanges and drains.

HCC CEO and president Arun Karambelkar said: "For HCC, being part of this development is a matter of immense pride as this highway will not only help improve infrastructure of our nation, but would also deepen India’s economic relations with Nepal and the adjoining nations."

With 100 years of engineering expertise, HCC has constructed more than 3,500km of roads and highways and more than 350 bridges across the country.

It also built India’s landmark projects, such as the longest transportation tunnel in India, Pir Panjal Railway tunnel, the Delhi Faridabad Elevated Highway and the Bandra-Worli sea-link in Mumbai.
