INRIX, a US-based provider of traffic information and intelligent driver services, and Navfree, a global navigation app, have introduced a new real-time traffic information service at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The new app is designed to help Navfree’s 12.5 million drivers across the world save time, fuel and reduce travelling times.

INRIX Mobile vice president Bill Schwebel said that Navfree is among the best navigation apps in the world, holding the top spot in app stores in the UK, US, France and Germany.

"With the launch of Navfree’s first real-time traffic service, 12 million drivers have the immediate opportunity to benefit from our community’s efforts, working together to avoid traffic," Schwebel added.

INRIX analyses real-time traffic information from a variety of sources, including its crowd-sourced network and traditional road sensors, and collects data on accidents, road works and other things that have an impact on traffic, providing up-to-date traffic information and reliable travel and arrival times.
