Iteris, a global company that offers applied informatics for transportation, has secured a contract from California’s Orange County to plan and design Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) project.

As per the terms of contract, Iteris will be responsible for integrating freeway and arterial operations along the I-5, SR-55 and SR-91 freeways to improve mobility in Orange County.

The project will also leverage system components designed for the I-210 Connector Corridor in Los Angeles, of which Iteris is a contributor.

"Connecting and integrating transportation systems and modes is critical to achieving ever-improved safety and efficiency."

Iteris Transportation Systems general manager and senior vice president Ramin Massoumi said: “Safe and efficient mobility is at the core of intelligent transportation projects Iteris is involved with.

“This Integrated Corridor Management project underscores Orange County’s commitment to invest in its transportation infrastructure, ensuring smarter mobility for its vibrant economy.”

The $2.6m on-call contract will focus on improving mobility in the heavily congested Platinum Triangle. The project is expected to provide a platform for the future ICM projects in Orange County and the state.

The Platinum Triangle convergence of corridors had the highest vehicle hours of delay in 2012, as well as has the highest concentration of special event locations such as Disneyland Resort.

Iteris has been involved in various ICM projects throughout the country. It has developed smarter mobility solutions, right from a multimodal app in San Diego to design and integration services in the San Francisco Bay Area and Virginia.

ICM projects promote and maintain balance among transportation modes such as auto, transit, bus and bicycle.
