Kapsch TrafficCom Australia, a unit of Kapsch TrafficCom, has reached an agreement with Transurban Queensland to replace the existing road tolling system on Gateway and Logan motorways.

Kapsch TrafficCom will deploy new toll systems across 14 points. The agreement is valued at €9m (AUD14m).

The firm will deploy single gantry multi-lane free-flow (MLFF) platform and stereoscopic vision technology for both vehicle detection and classification (VDC) and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) on gateway and logan motorways.

"With this agreement we have secured our sixth multi-lane free-flow tolling project in Queensland, joining the AirportLink, Legacy Way, CLEM7, Go Between Bridge and Toowoomba Second Range Crossing."

Kapsch TrafficCom chief operating officer André F Laux said: “Kapsch are pleased to expand on the strong partnership that has been formed with Transurban since we first commenced working together on the Melbourne Citylink Project in 1997.

“We are proud to be able to deliver our latest cutting edge tolling solution to toll the iconic Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges on the Gateway and Logan Motorways.

“With this agreement we have secured our sixth multi-lane free-flow tolling project in Queensland, joining the AirportLink, Legacy Way, CLEM7, Go Between Bridge and Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, and are now the sole supplier of roadside ETC systems in Queensland.”

The Gateway and Logan motorways comprise over 60km of motorway, and are part of Transurban Queensland’s go via network of Brisbane toll roads.
