The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in the US will host public meetings on the M-153 (Ford Road)/I-275 and Lotz Road projects.

The meeting will be held on 4 March 2015 at Summit on the Park, 46000 Summit Parkway, Canton.

The department’s operational improvement project includes resurfacing three miles of M-153 from Marlowe Street to Lotz Road.

Plans also include concrete patching on the M-153 between Haggerty and Lotz roads, as well as the on and off-ramps at the I-275/M-153 interchange.

The project also includes the extension of turn lanes and sidewalks, lane additions, barrier work, pavement markings and sign replacement on M-153 from west of Haggerty Road to west of Lotz Road.

The MDOT said it will work with the Wayne County Roads Division during its Lotz Road reconstruction project to lower traffic disruptions.

The department’s $3.7m investment is due to start shortly and is expected to be complete later this year.

The MDOT has recently revealed that it is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment (EA) for proposed improvements to US-23 between the west US-23/M-14 interchange and Silver Lake Road in Washtenaw and Livingston counties.

A formal hearing is set for 26 February, where the department will unveil an overview of the EA, including the alternatives considered and potential impacts and measures required to minimise the impacts.

The MDOT is responsible for Michigan’s 9,655-mile state highway system, comprised all M, I, and US routes.

It also administers other state and federal transportation programmes for aviation, intercity passenger services, rail freight, local public transit services, the transportation economic development fund and several others.
