The National Works Agency (NWA) in Jamaica has revealed that it will be spending nearly $100m to carry out patch works across several corridors at various locations in the country including St. Catherine, Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Thomas.

The agency explained that the patching works have already been initiated in some locations and it intends to cover approximately 36,000m² of road.

NWA communication and customer services manager Stephen Shaw explained that nearly 16 corridors in St. Catherine will benefit under this round of patching.

"Nearly $60m is being spent on roads in the parishes of St. Andrew and Kingston."

Around $18m is being spent on these roads, which includes a stretch from Spanish Town to Bamboo, Church Road to Knollis, Bamboo to Worthy Park and Vanity Fair to Bermady.

In Kingston and St. Andrew, the agency will be carrying out patching works on Arnold Road, Constant Spring Road, Conway Drive, Patrick Drive, Windward Road, Papine Square, Langston Road and Gordon Town Road.

Shaw added that nearly $60m is being spent on roads in the parishes of St. Andrew and Kingston, and 14m is being spent in St. Thomas to improve the condition along seven main roads.

Primarily the re-patching road works are being executed between Morant Bay to Port Morant, Port Morant to Pleasant Hill, Pleasant Hill to Hectors River, Church Corner to Morant River Bridge.

The targeted roads also include Bull Bay to Grants Pen, Grants Pen to Pamphret, Pamphret to Morant Bay and Morant River Bridge to Trinityville.

NWA anticipates that these works will be completed over the next three weeks, subject to the favourable weather conditions in the region.
