Omnitracs, a global company that offers fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, has released its latest version of Roadnet Anywhere, which is equipped with tools to measure savings and analyse the effectiveness of route optimisation practices.

In addition to the quantifying tools, the new Roadnet Anywhere v4.4 updates to the Roadnet mobile app to provide drivers with the real-time views into their route progress.

The Optimal Routes feature will enable the users to measure the usefulness and also the impact of routing decision on cost, time and distance.

"With Roadnet Anywhere v4.4, executives can see the current and potential ROI of their route optimisation practices."

Users have the option to generate theoretical route-level scenarios namely Business Optimal and True Optimal, and compare it with the actual routes.

The Business Optimal represents an ideal route, taking into consideration customer delivery windows, order of deliveries and other service-related constraints and the True Optimal represents the theoretical best sequence with no constraints.

The fleet solution developer explains that by comparing the actual routes with the optimal route scenarios will provide an insight into the decisions made by routers, as well as highlights the instances in which an over-emphasis on customer service has lead to overall inefficiency.

Omnitracs chief strategy and product officer Kevin Haugh said: “Route optimisation is an area where small changes can make a big impact on the bottom line, but even if executives know that intuitively, instinct needs to be backed by data.

“With Roadnet Anywhere v4.4, executives can see the current and potential ROI of their route optimisation practices, thereby being given the ability to better hold the organisation accountable for the performance improvements desired.”

Additionally, Roadnet Anywhere v4.4 also provides MyStats page within the Roadnet Mobile app for iOS and Android.

MyStats offers a real-time view of the driver’s performance, without having to interrupt their routes.

This feature allows the driver to adjust their schedule and improve their performance and efficiency.
