Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has awarded 11 contracts for infrastructure projects with a total value of QR6bn ($1.64bn).

The projects were signed under the Inner Doha Re-sewerage Implementation Strategy (Idris) and the Construction and Development of Infrastructure in Local Areas programme.

Ashghal has signed additional road development contracts with a total value of QR58m ($16m).

The new contracts were mostly awarded to Qatari companies, 82% of the awarded companies are either Qatari companies or joint ventures between Qatari and International companies.

Under Idris, three contracts were signed for the design and construction of the main trunk sewer project, at a value of approximately QR3bn ($824m) and QR212m ($58.2m).

Contracts signed under the Construction and Development of Infrastructure in Local Areas programme included a roads and infrastructure project in Al Wakra West (Phase Two, Package Three), valued at about QR287m ($78.7m).

The contracts also include a roads and infrastructure for government, residential division project in the south of Al Wukair – settlement works, worth QR113m ($31m); as well as in the north of Al Wukair, valued at approximately QR674m ($184.9m).

A QR518m ($142m) roads and infrastructure project in the west of Al Meshaf (Package III) and a QR573m ($157m) project in Al Sailiya, north of Salwa Road, are also part of the contracts.

The roads development contracts included a QR234m ($64m) contract for the Interim Upgrade of E-Ring Road and Najma Street project and two contracts for first and second packages of the Development of Rawdat Rashed Village to Umm Garn Road project, valuing at about QR390m ($m106).
