Redflex Traffic Systems, a subsidiary of Redflex Holdings, has won a $50m contract for the supply of camera systems, back office software and related services for the automated enforcement system (AES) project in Malaysia.

Under the deal, the Australia based Redflex will deliver 450 fixed speed cameras, 140 mobile cameras, enterprise back office software and other services.

The contract is subject to finance and it will be implemented throughout central and south Malaysia, encompassing the main corridor between Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru.

Redflex Traffic Systems general manager Ricardo Fiusco said: "The contract is a key milestone for our strategy in Asia and we will use its success as basis for future growth in the region. "

In addition, Beta Tegap, Redflex’s distributor in Malaysia, has signed a build-own-operate-and-transfer contract with the Malaysian Government for the delivery of the project.

The contract has been awarded after extensive competitive trials run by the Malaysian ministry of transport, which is carrying out the AES project.

Redflex Traffic Systems manufactures and supplies traffic cameras and processing systems, which include fixed speed cameras, red light/speed cameras, bus lane camera systems, toll camera enforcementsolutions, mobile speed cameras, point-to-point average speed solutions, and weigh-in-motion solutions.
