New South Wales’ Roads and Maritime Services plans for new and extended motorways on Boundary Street, Babbage Road and Warringah Road in order to improve traffic flow along the key corridor between Roseville and Roseville Chase.

The project is reported to be part of New South Wales (NSW) government’s A$121m ($94.9m) Clearways Programme, which has been designed to reduce delays and congestion by maximising the use of existing road space.

Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said: “Introducing clearways on this key transport corridor through Sydney will reduce congestion for motorists and improve journey reliability,” the spokesperson said.

“This important corridor provides direct access to the Northern Beaches, as well as the employment and shopping precinct at Chatswood.

“Clearways on Boundary Street, Babbage Road and Warringah Road from Pacific Highway at Roseville to Roseville Bridge at Roseville Chase will help traffic flow by restricting parking and allowing vehicles to be towed from these areas if they stop illegally or breakdown.”

“This important corridor provides direct access to the Northern Beaches, as well as the employment and shopping precinct at Chatswood.”

The project ensures availability of all lanes to the traffic during clearway hours.

Aside from adding new clearways, the state transport authorities propose to remove some parking spaces along Boundary Street in order to create a provision for new and extended clearways to operate.

According to the new proposal, the authorities plan to remove four on-street parking spaces in front of businesses at Roseville Chase Shops.

As an alternative, Roads and Maritime Services has identified parking availability in nearby council carparks and on side streets with existing timed parking restrictions.

The government agency is working closely with Ku-ring-gai Council to provide additional on-street parking for business customers nearby.
