Ryder System (Ryder), a US-based provider of transportation and supply chain management products, has partnered with Lytx to deploy the latter’s flagship product DriveCam to improve the safety of drivers by combining data and video analytics.

As part of the new partnership, Ryder will deploy DriveCam across its 4,400 Ryder vehicles supporting Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) and Dedicated Transportation Solutions (DTS) business divisions.

DriveCam has been designed to identify behavioural improvement opportunities and further enhance safety through a patented, iterative process of scoring, prioritising, and tracking the results of driving behaviours.

Over the past 12 months, Ryder has been testing DriveCam programme and is reported to have identified and targeted the top behaviours of the driver that led to fleet risk.

Ryder noted that with the implementation of DriveCam programme, it has been able to significantly reduce more than half the number of near collisions while increasing both following distance and response time.
