Samsung has introduced its Safety Truck, which allows the driver following the truck to clearly ‘see-through’ the vehicle for any oncoming traffic, as part of efforts to make highways safer.

The trucks are equipped with cameras in the front side and four screens at the rear to help drivers gauge when it is safe to overtake.

The company is currently seeking regulatory approval for the safety trucks, which could save lives and limit accidents caused by overtaking and sudden braking.

"The company is currently seeking regulatory approval for the safety trucks."

The company had tested this new technology in Argentina, which witnesses 20 mishap deaths every week due to overtakings on single-lane roads.

The screens, which are said to be weatherproof, are capable of giving a clearer view of vehicles coming from the opposite end.

Samsung has recently released a video of the system, in which it features a simple interface, with the front camera broadcasting the moving images of the road ahead on the rear screens, making it convenient for the drivers whose vision ahead get eclipsed by the heavy vehicle.

The camera includes night vision capabilities, which will help to avoid road accidents, even in the dark.

The company will have to check the cost of the camera as it might be cheap for most companies but installing four displays a truck is expensive and would require major investment.
